Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a dramatic turn of events, the Calcutta Municipality session witnessed intense unrest as tensions flared between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillors. The situation escalated to the point where Mayor Firhad Hakim had to intervene to restore order during the session. Notably, the opposition did not raise any questions during the session.
The chaos erupted following comments made by Chairperson Mala Roy, which led to a heated exchange of words between councillors from the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP. The confrontation soon turned physical, resulting in clashes within the municipal house.
As a consequence of the escalating tensions and confrontations, the session was abruptly adjourned, leaving several critical matters pending.
